By Jarmila Kopicka
Wine tasting can be fun for many reasons. Most people who love to 'taste wine' or go 'wine tasting' will give you various reasons why they do it. The top 3 reasons of aficionados - Beauty, History, and of course the Wine! Beauty Beauty of wine is two-fold. The beauty behind the grape, the vine it grows on and the ultimate scenic beauty of the vineyard. There is also the beauty of the wine itself. The color, clarity, and aroma. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," however the beauty of wine is a never ending circle of love. From the vine, to the grape, to the bottle - knowing the history of wine is the next logical step. History Appreciation for the taste and history behind the wine making process can be something you care about or you don't. When you develop a love for wine, the history behind the vine, the grape, and the wine making process turn into a 'must know' with each delicate sip of wine. When you know what grapes were used, where they were grown, and when they were picked - you understand the wine. Can you taste a hint of cherry, mint, or vanilla? Or maybe even a strong oak taste? Now you are uncovering a deeper knowledge behind the history of wine! The Wine Of course the appreciation behind wine tasting doesn't belong to the connoisseur alone. Each person, in his own right, can appreciate a bottle of wine! The landscape of each wine is different, and leads to a unique experience with each glass you pour. Knowing the beauty and history behind the wine you are tasting leads to a tender palate - and a new bouquet of flavor. As you can see - beauty, history and wine are intertwined and they await you! Travel to wineries, tour the vineyards, and explore each reason to have your next glass of wine. The next glass will have new meaning to you and to those you share your new found knowledge with!

What a lovely way of describing wine tasting visits! A pedantic point: 'palette' is what an artist uses and keeps his paint on; 'palate' is what we use for tasting.
